Stable Mass Production Begins with a Proven Production System
What do you currently do at AIO?
I lead the MP (Mass Production) group within the MPE Team, where I am responsible for developing NAND Screening Firmware and MP Board Tool Software and building yield monitoring systems to ensure stable production of AIO’s core products, including uSD, eMMC, and UFD. I also provide technical support to customers.
In particular, for the Samsung eMMC project, I am leading the development of mass-production Test Firmware and the establishment of a test environment optimized for the customer’s actual production line to ensure stable product operation in the customer’s environment. Through this work, I help ensure that products developed by AIO can be manufactured reliably in mass-production environments.
What skills or capabilities do you consider most important in your role?
I believe the most important capabilities are strong system-level execution and practical, field-oriented problem-solving skills.
Mass production is the process of turning theoretical designs into reality on the production floor. It is therefore essential to understand the characteristics of various types of NAND Flash, accurately analyze the customer’s mass-production environment, and have the technical expertise to design Test Firmware optimized for those conditions.
The ability to analyze large volumes of production data, identify system issues, and rapidly implement improvements is equally important. I believe the core of MPE is to turn individual technical experience into a systematic production management platform such as KPM (Kangaroo Production Management), creating a system that can consistently deliver the same level of quality across different production environments.
What has been your most rewarding experience?
Three projects have been particularly rewarding for me.
The first was the successful mass production of the Samsung uSD project. It was a meaningful project because AIO’s technology met the rigorous standards of a global customer and led to large-scale mass production, demonstrating the company’s technological competitiveness and product reliability.
The second was a uSD mass-production project based on NAND Die that is generally difficult to utilize. To enable mass production using lower-grade NAND with highly demanding test conditions, we developed a dedicated Die Sorting system and Screening Test algorithms, which allowed us to establish differentiated mass-production capabilities.
The ongoing Samsung eMMC project has also been particularly rewarding. We are building mass-production Test Firmware and test infrastructure optimized for the customer’s requirements, and I find it highly rewarding to be part of establishing a new mass-production system.
What would you like to achieve at AIO?
My goal is to advance AIO’s mass-production infrastructure into an intelligent production system that meets global standards.
I would like to expand the KPM system across a broader range of products and enhance real-time monitoring capabilities, establishing a system that ensures consistent quality across production environments worldwide and enables proactive responses to potential issues.
I also aim to actively incorporate AI and data analytics into mass-production processes to improve defect prediction models and automate the Test Firmware development process, further increasing productivity. Ultimately, I hope to contribute to strengthening AIO’s competitive advantage in global mass production.
What advice would you give to those preparing to join AIO?
AIO is a place where you can grow by applying your technical ideas to actual products and mass-production environments.
Rather than simply developing code, it is important to think about how the technology works in an actual production environment and what value it creates. If you enjoy solving the diverse challenges that arise where hardware and software come together and are willing to pursue solutions to the end based on data, I believe you can grow significantly at AIO.
