Connecting Technology and Markets to Create Customer Value

General Manager, Sales & Marketing Team Se-Hyung Byun

What do you currently do at AIO?

I am responsible for sales and marketing within the Sales & Marketing Team. We provide customers in Korea and overseas with our proprietary Controllers and a range of storage module products that combine these Controllers with NAND Flash, offering solutions optimized for their specific requirements.

I also analyze market and technology trends to identify new business opportunities and serve as a bridge between customers and our development teams throughout the entire process, from product planning to mass production. The core role of sales and marketing is to connect technology with the market and translate customer requirements into the most appropriate solutions.

What skills or capabilities do you consider most important in your role?

I believe the most important capabilities in sales and marketing are understanding the technology and accurately identifying customer requirements.

We need to understand not only NAND Flash and Controller technologies, but also the market and applications in order to propose the most appropriate solutions for each customer. Strong communication and collaboration skills are also essential, as our role is to connect customers with development teams.

I believe that understanding both technology and the market, and approaching problems from the customer’s perspective, helps build customer trust and drive strong business results.

What has been your most rewarding experience?

One of my most rewarding experiences has been driving the commercialization of the Kangaroo project and our next-generation UFD solution.

In the Kangaroo project, we used our proprietary Controller technology to turn NAND Die, which is generally difficult to utilize, into a new microSD Card solution. More recently, we have been working to commercialize UFD products for ultra-high-definition video storage—including Apple ProRes on iPhone and Samsung’s APV codec—based on a UFD Controller that delivers sustained write performance comparable to that of a pSSD.

What I find most rewarding about sales and marketing is being part of the process of turning technology into actual products that create new value for customers.

What would you like to achieve at AIO?

My goal is to expand AIO’s business in Japan by building on the market experience and network I have developed there over the years.

Japanese customers place a particularly high value on technology, quality, and trust. I would like to actively communicate the value of AIO’s proprietary Controller technology and differentiated storage solutions. By incorporating customer requirements into product planning and building long-term partnerships, I hope to establish successful business cases in Japan and contribute to AIO’s growth as a global storage brand.

What advice would you give to those preparing to join AIO?

AIO is a company that continuously develops new technologies and products in the rapidly evolving storage market. If you are willing to take on challenges and have a passion for learning, there are many opportunities to grow.

One of the greatest advantages of working at AIO is the opportunity to collaborate across different teams and turn your own ideas into products and business opportunities. If you want to help develop global markets and grow together with the company, I believe AIO can offer you valuable experience.
